I rent a car in Lisbon 2 times: 3 years ago and last week. All was very good. Nice service and good cars. No problem to pick up and give car back. But all the time I read opinion about that people wait a long time to pick up car, hopefully this comments passing to a manager who could introduce some changes in the service to resolve this point and assure much better rate for the Centauro.

I had a great experience renting a car here. I paid 1200 deposit, it was returned immediately, after giving the car back. 109 for the fuel deposit, returned in 48 hours, 100 for the toll deposit, returned in 2 weeks. These deadlines were told me also before taking the car, and when I gave the keys back. Nobody gave me a hard time, everything went flawlessly and fast, shuttle bus came automatically.

A great experience overall and as you'll know, car rentals are not always efficient or simple. We booked online, took a short 5 minute shuttle to the store where our car was awaiting. The service was very good and helpful, upon return we just had to top up with fuel and drive it into the returns area where another shuttle quickly arrived to return to the airport. They checked over the car and it was all fine so refunded the deposit and it was very quick and painless.

How to pay

  • What are the different ways I can pay for my car hire?

    1.   Payment by Credit or Debit Card:  payment can be made using a credit/debit card (Visa/Visa Electron or Mastercard) either via our web site or on collection of the vehicle. You need to know that there will be a deposit applicable if you do not choose the Smart cover. The deposit will be refunded to you at the end of the rental if there is no new damage made to the car. For Portugal, a 100€ deposit will be charged to your debit or credit card to cover possible Via Verde toll charges. Debit cards must be nominative. If you have prepaid on the web for your vehicle you must use the same credit/debit (Visa/Visa Electron o Mastercard) when picking up the car. At our Athens & Thessaloniki offices, we only accept payment with a credit card.

    2.   Cash payment: we accept cash for your car hire in Spain and Portugal (Italy and Greece cash is not accepted). In these cases, and as a guarantee, you are required to leave a deposit for the excess applicable to the vehicle given using a credit card (NOT DEBIT).

    We do not accept prepaid cards, American Express, Maestro or Diners Club.

  • Can I pay with my credit card if I am not the person who picks up the car?

    No, the driver must present a valid credit or debit card in their name on collecting the vehicle.
