We hired a car from Centauro while staying in Portugal and had a really great experience. We were wary after reading the other reviews, but we got straight to the desk with no wait and were out the door in our car in under 15 minutes. The car was great, a few dings, but these were all noted on the condition report/agreement. We took the extra insurance when booking, so only left a small fuel and toll deposit of around 140 euros using a visa debit card. Returning the car was quick and easy, and we got a refund for some unused days after our plans changed. No hassles at all. Would definitely recommend centauro.

Easy and fast pick up service with a yellow Centauro transit from P4 in Faro Airport. The car we had booked was in fact the same model as their website showed (which is not always the case with car rentals). We got a new Fiat 500 (with only 5.600 km on its Tacho) - in perfect shape and super clean. The check in and check out have been easy, fast, professional and informative by kind staff. We recommend this rental and would come again :) There's enough gas stations around the rental so you can easily fill up fuel before returning the car. Also the rental station is close to Faro and other cities and easily reachable. For anyone: take the highway tool for an additional 11€ - it's totally worth it if you travel via highway a lot to pay the fees in a comfortable manner.

Great experience. Slightly unsure on arrival where to get the transfer as there was no signage for Centauro but we soon figured it out. We used the premium package, this allowed us to be served first in the queue on arrival and took all the concern of any dents or scratches away, especially as we picked the car up in Porto and returned it to Faro. Car was really clean, almost like new. A deposit was taken to cover fuel and toll charges - the fuel deposit was returned straight away on return of a full tank, but the toll deposit took 1.5 weeks to return. I would definitely use Centauro again, service was efficient!

The shuttle bus arrived within 5 minutes. I sent my passport and driver's license via the website in advance and I was checked in at the rental shop within 3 minutes. For an additional 80E I got a 5 category better car for 14 days. I took Smart insurance and didn't have to worry about anything - I recommend it

How to pay

    What are the different ways I can pay for my car hire?

    1.   Payment by Credit or Debit Card:  payment can be made using a credit/debit card (Visa/Visa Electron or Mastercard) either via our web site or on collection of the vehicle. You need to know that there will be a deposit applicable if you do not choose the Smart cover. The deposit will be refunded to you at the end of the rental if there is no new damage made to the car. For Portugal, a 100€ deposit will be charged to your debit or credit card to cover possible Via Verde toll charges. Debit cards must be nominative. If you have prepaid on the web for your vehicle you must use the same credit/debit (Visa/Visa Electron o Mastercard) when picking up the car.

    2.   Cash payment: we accept cash for your car hire in Spain and Portugal (Italy and Greece cash is not accepted). In these cases, and as a guarantee, you are required to leave a deposit for the excess applicable to the vehicle given using a credit card (NOT DEBIT).

    We do not accept prepaid cards, American Express, Maestro or Diners Club.

    We do not accept Debit Cards in Greece.

    Can I pay with my credit card if I am not the person who picks up the car?

    No, the driver must present a valid credit or debit card in their name on collecting the vehicle.
