Costa del Sol Oriental

It is known as Costa del Sol Oriental all the coastal municipalities of the region of la Axarquía, scenery of cliffs, coves,and beaches of tradition and turism.

Vélez-Malaga

The route begins from Rincón de la Victoria where the Casa fuerte Bezmiliana is set up, defensive fortress built under the order of Charles III in the 18th century. Towards the coast we can findGruta del Higuerón o Cueva del tesoro, It's a unique cove with submarine origine, discovered in Europe. It has many galleries and a marvellous area full of lakes. Besides, in the interior, thanks to its unbeatable acoustic conditions, takes place the international festival of music 'Cueva del Tesoro'.
Vélez-Malagais the following stop. Its casco antiguo has been declared Conjunto Histórico Artístico y es llamada ciudad conventual for the quantity of ecclesiastical monuments of wich stands out la iglesia de Santa María la Mayor, erected on the remains of the aljama mosque in the 15th century.On the coast you can find the touristic center Torre del Mar,area where you find the hotels, restaurants and chiringuios and where you can walk on the sea front.

Torrox

From the locality of Vélez-Malaga we continue towardsEl Morche area where you can find the archaeological site of Caviclum, roman settlement founded in the Ist century a.c. Towards the East we get to the municipality of Torrox, cuna de Almazor, caudillo de Al-Andalus, where we can walk through thecasco antiguo up to la Plaza de la Constitución, enjoying the places and streets or admiring the Torreón Árabe and the remains of the wall that belonged to el Castillo Alto de Torrox. Towards the East, in the interior of the village of Nerja we can visit la Torre de los Guardas, also known as Balcón de Europa, part of an old fortress built in the 9th century.Nowadays it's marvellous viewpoint on the shore of the mediterranean seaand surrounded of a lovely promenade known as Paseo del Balcón de Europa.

Nerja

In the interior we can find the Caves of Nerja with 35.484 m2 surface wich is the 3rd most visited monument in Spain after El Prado museum in Madrid and la Alhambra in Granada. The cave has , visitas guiadas, restaurants, coffee shop, services y zonas de descanso. Every July in the interior of the cave takes place the International festival of music and dance Cueva de Nerja. Towards the East we can continue visiting el Señorio de Maro lovely town with roman origins. To finish this route we can visit la Torre de Maro, one of the watchtower that protected all the coastline, area where the natural reserve of the Maro cliffs startand from where you can enjoy a fantastic view of the coast.
